1. Find a long (5" or taller), strong, fat dandelion stem.

2. Snip off the flower.

3. Split the top of the stem with your thumbnail.

4. Pinch the top of the stem to make a flat mouthpiece.

5. Nick finger holes with your fingernail to make different pitches.

6. Blow with lips closed.

If you can’t make a sound at first, put a little more of the stem into your mouth (up to an inch) or shorten the stem. Buzz with your lips until you get a good sound. The dandelion may last an hour before it wilts.
